Please tell Bitcoin Cash developers to change TCP port !
Hi All, As it stands right now, there is NO WAY to run both Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin ABC on the same node with the same public IP address. Even if I were to change a Bitcoin's port to something else like TCP/8433 it would stop being discoverable, so no incoming connections be possible. And while at it, please also change default config file from ~/.bitcoin/bitcoin.conf to something else... bitcoinabc.conf ? (so it be implementation specific) There is no mailing list and no way to contact Bitcoin ABC developers. So I'm using this forum. PLEASE ! Contact Bitcoin Cash developers and call them to change Bitcoin Cash port to TCP/8433 on the next hard fork ! (which happens every 6 months) -Technologov

''' Version 0.20 gets a clean bill of health from this specific Mac OSX AV software. Surely it also “opens ports on your computer...” as well. I’m referring to the antivirus software doing a static analysis on the Bitcoin-QT executable image. Depending on the versions they all have a variation of OSX malware agent-nnnnn. I don’t know what that is but I’m hoping it’s a false positive. ''' Context Link Go1dfish undelete link unreddit undelete link Author: NotNiSza
How does the Bitcoin Cash community feel about starting to use the Avalanche consensus mechanism, and potentially basically porting the UTXO set onto Avalanche?
Wassabi modifications to bitcoin.conf makes port 8333 unreachable
I've been trying to track down why my bitcoin node can't be reached through port 8333, even though I have correct port forwarding rules set up on my router, and have allowed traffic on 8333 on my firewall. I checked bitcoin.conf, and noticed a section at the bottom modified by Wasabi: main.listen = 1 main.whitebind = 127.0.0.1:8333 main.rpcbind = 127.0.0.1 main.rpcallowip = 127.0.0.1 main.rpcport = 8332 I can't remember making these changes, but I suppose it's possible. Would these bitcoin.conf changes have been made Wasabi? There was a comment at the bottom of bitcoin.conf saying these changes were made through wassabee. At any rate, commenting them out restored normal bitcoin connectivity. My port can be seen as open at canyouseeme.org. What are the implications to Wasabi of leaving these lines commented out? Edit: spelling Edit 2: Clarification

Coinbase is a secure platform that makes it easy to buy, sell, and store cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more. Based in the USA, Coinbase is available in over 30 countries worldwide. The Bitcoin.com mining pool has the lowest share reject rate (0.15%) we've ever seen. Other pools have over 0.30% rejected shares. Furthermore, the Bitcoin.com pool has a super responsive and reliable support team. The bitcoin.org client can be configured to accept JSON-RPC communications, and when that is enabled will, by default, be on port 8332. Earlier versions of Bitcoin Core permitted this to be secured with SSL communications using the same port or a different port, however that capability has since been removed. Bitcoin Core initial synchronization will take time and download a lot of data. You should make sure that you have enough bandwidth and storage for the full block chain size (over 350GB). If you have a good Internet connection, you can help strengthen the network by keeping your PC running with Bitcoin Core and port 8333 open. Both the external port and the internal port should be 8333 for Bitcoin. (You may also want to map port 18333 for Bitcoin’s testnet, although this guide does not cover using testnet.) Make sure the IP address you enter is the same one you configured in the previous subsection. After filling in the details for the mapping, save the entry.
